Day Six: Binder!!

I'm not sure if you were aware, but Jen's post was just like Voldemort's soul, split into seven parts (Not including Harry because he didn't mean for that to happen). Anyway, mine will come in two parts, the first of which being Doctor Who!!! So let's just start from the beginning, shall we? (Oh and if you aren't a fan a spoilers, I suggest you run now.)

I really liked the way it started and how there was a break since we last saw them. It gave Amy and Rory a chance to be a real couple. Oh and I thought the Doctor naked painting was hilar (That's short for hilarious...). I loved the whole invitation thing, I thought that it was such a Doctor thing to do. I don't know about you, but those Brits are terribly uninformed. THEY WOULD NOT GET A RIDE BY A FREAKING SCHOOL BUS!!!!!! Am I the only one who thought that? Okay, anyway, I really loved the picnic. I was also baffled by the fact that that Doctor was 200 years older. That was pretty cool.

The Silent. That was the name of the monster. It was freaking scary. I liked it. Okay, and what the eff was with the astronaut in the water? Creeps man. Okay. The Doctor dying. I mean, we know that he can't die because the show is still going on. But it kind of hit me once they burned his body. It was so sad, watching Amy react to it. I think that that's what gets me in TV shows and movies, watching how people react to certain things.

Am I the only one who thought it was hilarious how the person the Doctor trusts the most is himself? I loved that. I thought it was really great how they had to keep something from the Doctor because usually he knows more than anyone. I loved how River was fixing all the stuff on the TARDIS.

I noticed how they made it so the Doctor and River are moving in opposite directions. I think it's so sad. Especially when River said that it would kill her if the Doctor didn't know her, and that does happen. Ahhhh that's so sad. Also, I caught that dirty joke. It was nasty, and I loved how the Doctor smiled to it. Oh, and I figured that she was pregs when her stomach hurt. I totally saw it coming. I also really loved Amy's face when she fired the gun, because she realized what she did. Ahhh, I wan't to watch the next episode already.

As for today's item, I again apologize for the blurriness and the shadow. Anyway, these are the things that were on my binder last year. The first is a quote from Abraham Lincoln: "Whatever you are be a good one." I don't really remember where I got this quote, but I remember that when I got this, a bunch of people got quotes that day. I guess I liked it so I put it there.

Next, a little slip of paper that says "Hear you've been naughty, so here's the scoop: all you're eating is Snowman Poop:)" It was attached to a plastic bag that had a bunch of little marshmallows. I got if from my friend Shannon last year during Christmas time. I liked it, so there it was.

The next two are two things that I don't mind remembering from my Leadership days. The first was a post-it that gave us the survey results from our teachers about our non-verbal communication in class. I got 3 mediocre's and 1 ....... something that was worse. This was basically a inspiration for me to do better in things like paying attention, or having good posture, or just being a better person. And I do think that it helped.

The last was another post-it that I got from Leadership class. In class, they gave us TCBs (Take Care of Business) and they were basically just random tasks, to see if we would do them. This one said "Share good news to the class on April 7th." Everyday at the beginning of class, we would share good news to just enter with a positive attitude. Now, the interesting thing about this one was that we didn't have class on that day. So I eventually came up with the idea to have Good News bars delivered to all my classmates on that day along with a fun note.

So yeah, that was an insight towards my tenth grade year.

Day Five: Bailar-ing and Threes

I'd like to apologize in advance for the blurriness of this image, the iPhone camera is not the best. So if you can't read what it says, it says "Si, Quiero bailar. =] A three ate more threes. XD" Now, I don't remember the exact origin of the paper itself, but I do know of the phrases written upon the note.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that I received this note in my locker in ninth grade. And right now I want you to guess who it's from. Right now. Go on. Guess.
Did you get it? Yup, it's from Jen. The XD gave it away huh? *Sigh* 9th-grade-Jen, you're so obvious. So yes, Jen put this note in my locker, but what does it mean!?!?!?! Let's start with the first phrase shall we? "Si, Quiero bailar." Now, I'm sure that you are asking yourself right now: "Self, why are the two first words capitalized but the third isn't!?!" Well, I can't answer that for you, but what I can answer is what that Spanish phrase means in English and that would be: "Yes, I want to dance."
In order for one to understand that phrase, they would need a little back story. This goes all the way back to my seventh and eighth grade days. Now watch out, you are about to see 12-year old girl Kendall again. Ready? Okay, this story originates from "High School Musical." Yup. More specifically, the song "Bop to the Top" sung by Ryan and Sharpay. Throughout the song, they say little random Spanish phrases, and in the very beginning of the song, Sharpay says "Quieres bailar?" which means "Do you want to dance?" Now fast forward a year or two to freshman year. More specifically, May 20, 2009 when I emailed Jen about a history project (the country one in which I was paired with Jared W.) and I entitled it "Quieres bailar?" Now, there is no mention of the title at all in the email thread itself, but I have come to the assumption that Jen made this note during one of the days proceeding the email.

Next: "A three ate more threes." Now I'm not sure how this started or whose was first or why this even happened (although I'm sure Jen does), but this was just a clever way to remember my locker combination. "A THREE(3) ATE(8) more THREES(33)" [Don't get excited, this isn't my locker combination anymore.] It was cool. I really liked the idea of that and I thought that sentence was really clever and it was helpful in remembering it. Since then I have tried to do that with my other locker combos, but it never really seems to work out.

Turn Left?

Today is April 12, 2011. One day after my birthday. And exactly 10 years since I moved here to Hawaii. Yup, I moved here the day after my seventh birthday. A lot has changed since than, and it it didn't than that would be a bad thing. Although, I can't help but think how my life would be different if I had stayed in Washington. I wouldn't know any of my friends. I wouldn't have been exposed to all the cool and different cultures that we have here in Hawaii. I would have been just another haole kid amongst thousands. But at the same time, I would have possibly had a more American up-bringing. I wouldn't have to feel bad for not liking spam because no one else would have liked it either. I would get be in the cold and snow and rain, the weather that I love. But, would I still love it if I stayed there? The reason I love the cold is because I grew up here for most of my life, I have enjoyed the warm for so long, that now I want to go back to the cold.

I can't help but think of a random scenario in which I lived in an alternate universe where my dad turned right instead of left and his whole life changed. He would't have been offered a job here in Hawaii and I never would have moved. 10 years later, I come to Hawaii for vacation, I'm in Ala Mona as a tourist and I see my friends. My friends that I never really had. And I don't recognize them. I accidentally bump into one of them, and don't even realize who it was. Then another person comes out of no where and tells me that I have to go back to my real reality. She is also from a different world, and she see's this weird space bug thing on my back. Next thing I know, the Titanic falls from space and crashes into Washington, killing everyone I ever knew. The world is in chaos. Everything is going to end. All because my dad didn't turn left. So the girl comes back and she sends me back in time to when my dad was turning. And the only way to stop him is to get hit by another car. And as I'm dying and returning to my real universe, she tells me to tell him two words: Bad Wolf.

Like how I started off with a serious what if statement, then it turned into a giant Doctor Who reference? Yeah, me too. Ha ha anyway, you get the point. My life would be so much different, and I would be a completely different person. Just a fun thing to think about. Like, what if I had fifteen siblings, or what if I was homeless, or what if I was a time lord. I guess it makes more thankful for what we have now because it allows us to see how our life could be different, and whether or not it is good or bad, we take a good look at our lives, and see how they are good in their own ways.

The Doctor!!!

So like Jen, I have been doing a lot of things lately, but none of which included blogging recently so I thought that I would talk about something that I have been really into lately: DOCTOR WHO!

For those of you who don't know (and when I say 'you' I mean the ten creepers that we have) Doctor Who is a British TV show that's been around since the 60's. It's about a 900 year old Time Lord, who goes around space and time in his spaceship (the TARDIS) and has cool adventures with Earth friends. I had heard about it a lot and I thought that I would give it a try. And basically, I LOVED it. Now, I didn't start all the way back at the beginning of the series since that would be like 200 episodes, over 20 seasons. Actually, the series kind of ended back in the 80's but in 2005 they brought it back. Now, the series has been able to survive this long because every time the main character, the Doctor, is about to die, he has the magical ability to regenerate into a new body and continue living. So basically it means that a new actor plays the Doctor every time.

I started at season 5, with Matt Smith as the Doctor, which is the most recent season and it was amazing. I got through the 13 episodes in a matter of days. I then went back to the first season from 2005 and I am currently working my way from there. All in all, it is a great show. It's been extremely time consuming, but I find it worth it because it is such an amazing show and I can't wait 'til I get through all of it.

Now Jen is also a Doctor Who fan, however she is nowhere near as devoted as I have seem to become. She just watches it whenever it's on TV (BBC America). Shameful.

Other than Doctor Who, I have also been up to a few other projects.

The first of which is something I got from one of the Five Awesome Girls, Kayley.
She recently made a video about how this year she is going to write down, everyday, why that day is awesome. It's kind of hard to find a reason why everyday is awesome, but it's fun to see what was good about your day.

Another project that I've taken on is a book challenge.
Now I didn't set a specific amount of books that I plan to read throughout the year since this is my first year and I have no clue how many I can read. So I just want to see how many I can by the end of the year.
So far I have two. I know, that's terrible, but I will give a good reason!
The first of which was HP 2 because I decided that I want to read the whole series again (I skipped the first one because I read it like two years ago).
The second was Ship Breaker by Paolo Baciagalupi. It was a decent book that I did enjoy, although it wasn't the best in the world. If you have some spare time and you don't know what to read, I suggest that.
There was a huge month long gap in which I didn't finish any books because I had started so many!
I got halfway through HP 3, but then I had to start Ship Breaker because of my Creative Writing class.
I started listening to my Red Pyramid audio tapes.  And I started and stopped 13 Little Blue Envelopes.

My plans on what to read next?
The rest of the HP's, Just Don't Fall by Josh Sundquist, the new Kane Chronicles book, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (I think they all count as just one book), 13 Little Blue Envelopes.

So um, yeah, I think that's about it.
