Jen's Mayflower Week Post #2: This ain't a gossip blog, no siree.

So yes. Because of that "thing" you mentioned in your last post, here's a new rule:

NEW RULE: We cannot mention other people's names on this blog in a way that can be construed to mean something bad.

Like, oh, you know what I mean. Just don't talk about your opinions about people we know and your thoughts on the things that are happening between people and us and just everyone in the whole world in general that's like that or may seem kinda like that. I mean, you can say, "So I spent, like, an awesome day with so and so..." but you cannot be all, "OMG, so and so was totally, like, wearing the most hideous whatever today!" I mean, seriously. This ain't a gossip blog, no siree. If you have to question it, just don't put it on.

Yeah...

Moving on: I actually met my 48-page goal before I slept last night so yesssss. I am on my way. I have about 20-ish more pages to go tonight before I go to bed. Did you know that the Pilgrims did not in fact land in Plymouth Rock??? I was so outraged when I read about that--all this time I've been living a lie!!!

Another thing: I really liked the idea of you putting "In Your Pants" after your summer reading book for USH. John Green did that in a video by the way, if you didn't know....here:
http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogbrothers#p/c/D11540E6F91A7FAB/6/IORFlwNJ7H8

So I did it for the whole summer reading list and here are some of the good ones (I put a star next to the ones I liked and/or are really bad):

Eng 7 - Hope Was Here in Your Pants
Eng 9 - When I Was Puerto Rican In Your Pants or I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in Your Pants
Am Lit - The Color of Water in Your Pants
AP Eng - Crime and Punishment in Your Pants
CNF - Rocket Boys in Your Pants
*CW - The Book of Other People in Your Pants
Finding Poetry - Sir Gawain & the Green Knight in Your Pants
*Interpersonal Comm - Being There in Your Pants
Lit of Sport - The Ol' Man in Your Pants (Oh, this is pretty bad, but I don't meant anything bad about Father Bray here)
Shakespeare - The Taming of the Shrew in Your Pants
WFM - Fast Food Nation in Your Pants
HMW - Animal Farm in Your Pants
*USH - A Voyage Long and Strange in Your Pants (courtesy of you)
**AP Econ - Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science in Your Pants (haha!)
*AP Euro - A World Lit Only by Fire in Your Pants
*Econ & SE - Our Time is Now in Your Pants

Okay, I'm off to read Mayflower!

P.P.P.P.S. I'm enjoying myself on the Ed Tech committee meetings.

P.P.P.P.P.S. Okay, bye. For real kine now.

P.P.P.P.P.P.S. Oh wait, one more thing: I got Shann's letter today! I feel special. :)

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. Last one, I promise: You have to do spell check on your posts and you have to proofread. Seriously. :)

Sorry for the short post

Before I dive into the meat of my blog post for Day #4, let me respond to your last two posts.

TODAY'S LIST #1: In regards to your Aug. 3 post...
1) Fruit salad with agar is NOT Filipino. Nowhere in that particular post did I say that it was Filipino; you just simply assumed. I believe it's more commonly used in Thai/Vietnamese/Around that area of Southeast Asia cuisine.
2) My phone sucks too and I can't get a new one until I don't know so be grateful you're getting a new one! Dern spoiled rich kid...
3) Yay Alg 2 Honors! I'm so happy for you and I'm so proud of you and, and, and I'm gonna stop doing my happy dance now (Side Note #1: By the way, a couple of days ago, when I finally got to read Will Grayson, Will Grayson, I did my very own happy dance for the first time. But I don't remember how to do it. I guess I have to wait until I'm super happy again.) !!!! :)
4). HOW? DARE? YOU? WHO? IN? THE? WORLD? IS? TOM? FELTING? IT'S TOM FELTON. GET IT RIGHT.

TODAY'S LIST #2: In regards to your Aug. 4 post...
1) I love naps for the same reasons you hate them.
2) The fact that your mere presence makes unawkward things unawkward is common knowledge, dear. This is why we're good friends. We're totally balanced...one is awkward, one is not. :)
3) You WATCHED them, but it's not like you were TOTALLY INTO them or anything.
4) I'd like to point out that most of those things that you listed under the reviewing of the rules were done by YOU first. You were the one who wrote "haha nice" on one of my drafts so YOU were the one who initiated anything.
5) When I put "so.NOT.funny." as my status on Facebook last night, it was NOT about you and I not having any type of textual communication. When you liked it, I first wondered what in the world you were liking it for, I commented "UNACCEPTABLE" because I thought that liking things on Facebook counted as textual communication.

Okay, well, I guess that's all I have for you today. Sorry I didn't really get to the meat but I have to sleep now or else I will be in trouble with my daddy.

He came home from Guam today! Yay!!! :) He was there for work for two weeks.

P.S. KENDALL--YOU'RE HITTING ENTER TWICE AGAIN! LOOK AT ALL THOSE WHITE SPACES!

GAH!!!! SECOND TIME WRITING THIS!!!!

So, yesterday, Jen gave us a thrilling list as to why she loves naps. However today, I am going to share with you why I HATE naps, in the form of a list:

1) Just like Jen, when I do nap I can't nap for a little bit. I mean, someone could wake me up or something, but if I am on my own, I will nap forever.

2) Because of this I feel rejuvenated in after the nap because I just got some good sleep.  But wait. Doesn't that mean that I won't be tired when the real time to go to sleep comes around? YES! For example, if I take a nap from 1 to 3, then my "bedtime" is shifted from 11 to 1. Therefore, causing me to wake up in the morning at noon!

3) And as you know, I HATE waking up late.

Moral of this list? NAPS ARE EVIL!

So because Jen shared her NaNoWriMo story with you guys yesterday, I thought I would too.
1) Four friends: 2 guys and 2 girls.
2) They meddle where they aren't supposed to and girl 2 gets kidnapped.
3) Guy 1 and girl 1 are the love interests.
4) Lots of plot twists!
So yeah, I am excited.

So today I had my 3rd driving sesh with my driving instructor. It went okay, however the interesting part of this episode took place afterwards when I was waiting to get picked up at autoline. So like a minute after I sit down, Pinochs (one of our awesome student teacher for our leadership class) and Tue (a cool dude) come out because they had a proconsuls meeting. Alex sits next to me and starts talking to me and its awkward, then he leaves. Then Tue (who is sitting on the bench next to me) starts talking and its also awkward until Zobian comes and starts talking to him. Then Ally (Matt's Ally, [the real one, not the evil one]) Comes for some reason then leaves and it was weird because I never saw her as the blast-my-music-in-my-car type of person.
So the moral of this story? I make un-awkward situations awkward.

Also, yesterday Jen said that I don't like anime stuff, well that is a LIE! I just never really watched the super asian stuff that she likes. I watched Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Yuyu Hakasho, Case Closed, Full Metal Alchemist, Avatar (that counts right?), Pokemon (that counts too....right?), and Digimon. In fact, last night I was watching old, awesome episodes of Digimon. Good times. Pictures below =].

Lastly, I think that we need to review the rule "No Textual Communication" for two reasons 1) you like rules, and 2) we have been breaking it.
1) Absolutely no form of textual communication, whatsoever.
2) No indirectly talking to each other (i.e. Me commenting on Shann's page 'Jen isn't cool') none of that business.
3) No talking to each other through editing posts or editing each others post.
4) Likeing things on Facebook counts! Because it is not a form of textual communication.
5) Business related things are ok.

a;kg;kfbn;wkeng;lkasng;slkfd because of a;odskfj;slkfn-ness, I just had to type this entire post a second time. Fun.

My shoulders hurt now...

Yup, my neck and my shoulders basically hurt whenever I'm on the computer for a long time because I have a laptop and it's not exactly at a very comfortable level on my desk.

Unlike Kendall, I actually woke up pretty early today although not as early as I would have liked. But anyway, I got up today at around 7:30-ish, worked out, then ate breakfast. After I took a shower, I sat down in front of the computer and basically stared at the new format that we came up with last night. And I hated it (Sorry!). So I fiddled for a couple of hours and came up with this. TAA-DAAAA!!!

I actually really like it. And, no, I will not change the dark pinkish banner for the title on top, Kendall, because I purposely chose that color because it is NOT blue NOR purple. I thought that we should save those colors for our posts (Side note #1: Kendall's fave color is blue and mine is purple).

Which leads me to my next topic: NEW FORMAT, NEW "RULES"
I'm a rules kind of person. But not the strict kind of rules, more like bendable rules and rules that are enough to keep some measure of non-chaos.

1) So, like I said, it would be easier to have our posts color-coded based on our respective personal colors.
2) Keep the font size Normal and the font Arial. Uniformity can be good.
3) No double line breaks! I hate the white spaces that you create in your posts whenever you hit Enter twice. So...NO! Also, check that you don't have extra lines after your name at the very end of your post because, again, NO WHITE SPACES!!!
4) This was your idea: always add labels.
5) Even if our posts are color-coded, I still think we should end each one with our respective Fruity/Chewy names.
6) No more fiddling.
7) Try to add pictures even if they're pics that are not related to The List.
8) SPELL CHECK.
9) Go for loooooong posts.

And I guess that's it...for now, I mean, until something comes up that is totally unacceptable and we just have to put it down in the rules. So, I expect full compliance in your next post.

Moving on...I like hats. I don't wear them much. I think I probably only have 2 or 3 normal hats (I say "normal" because I have a handful of other ones--sombrero, pimp hat, purple Santa hat, etc.). This summer, I've taken to wearing my sister's Seattle Mariners baseball cap around the house. At first I just did it because my summer short hair was too short to pull back into a pony tail and I wasn't in the mood at the time to wear a heaband because it makes that dent on my hair of which I am not a big fan. But now, I basically wear it just to wear it. I actually expected one of my parents to call me out on it right away. But they didn't; they kind of just let me wear it around the house. Which is pretty weird. But, oh wells, no one has said anything. Not even my sister who usually doesn't like other people touching her stuff. So I guess I'm wearing it for this summer.

I'm sitting on our avocado tree
That's what I like about summer. Other than the fact that it gives us a sense of freedom, of course.

Yeah, there are some stuff that suck that just can't be helped, like, summer school and summer reading books to which we cannot even relate. (Side note #2: The only reason that we can't relate to the summer reading books that always have themes of racism and such that we're always assigned to read is because we live in Hawaii, the melting pot of the US. We don't experience much racism around here. Another reason to love the islands.)

But at the same time, summer comes with so many surprises and unexpected stuff. And it's a time for spontanaeity. I mean, if we had been in school, I don't think that we would have decided to do NaNoWriMo this year. Summer gives us a sense of "I can do ANYTHING." Again, freedom.

Summer also means food to me. I usually gain a couple of pounds during the summer time because 1) I'm bored and have not much to do, and 2) Summer treats are always delicious. One of my favorite things to eat every summer (or whenever my mom makes it) is fruit salad with agar. So I didn't exactly know what it was. So I Wikipediad it and this came up:

"Agar or agar agar is a gelatinous substance derived from red algae."

Then I realized that this is the same kind of agar that the bio teachers used to fill up the plates that we worked with whenever we had to do a lab about bacteria back in ninth grade. =O

Fruit salad with agar

Agar used in biology labs
Mmmm, algae. It tastes a lot like regular jello. =)

Okay, so I think that's about enough for now. I actually have to do some stuff on my own summer to-do list.
