Wednesday: The Best and Worst Night Ever

Day 20? Day 20.

First off, I just read Kendall's post for today and I really liked the ending. That was really good. I feel like I have to live up to that standard now with my post. And I can't believe he kept that.

Okay, talk about coincidences. I had already picked all seven of my items for the week a couple days ago so as to save a bit of time during the week. I also already assigned each item for each day of the week and I have several pre-set draft blog posts with each day's title and item. So I thought it was cool that Cole was reading old posts during lunch time today and he briefly mentioned and asked about the Homecoming 2010 posts. And look at today's item!

I got this wristband from the Homecoming 2010 Dance in the Lower Gym on October 30? Or was it the 31st? It was at the end of October.

I wrote the words "Homecoming 2010 Dance" on the band--that wasn't there originally.

To tell you the truth, I debated whether I should keep this wristband. In the end, I decided to keep it because a Memory Box isn't really a Memory Box if all you have in there are happy memories. It's important to remember the sad stuff, too.

On the night of the Homecoming Dance, I thought that it was the Best Night Ever. In more ways than one, I still think it was the Best Night Ever. It was a lot of fun. I hadn't had that much fun at a dance in a long time. And it was the first student council dance I'd ever been to. I felt carefree and confident, something I haven't had together since I was three! It doesn't sound fun with the way I'm describing it, but it really was. It was great. But I've had better nights since then (also in more ways than one).

But Kendall and I had a huge fight the weekend that followed Homecoming Week 2010 this past October. It was our first, and hopefully, our last fight. (Wanna see our posts? Here's his and here is mine.) So the fight made it essentially the Worst Night Ever.

Kendall and I have been best friends since, if I had to pick a specific point in time, summer of 2009 (Summer of '09 SONG-WIN). And we're close.

Something happened at the beginning of this school year--"something BIG," as Kendall described it--and I made a huge mistake not telling him about it as soon as I could. I kept putting it off, until I finally decided that he didn't need to know. I did, however, share the news with one other close friend (because I just had to talk about it). I'm pretty sure Kendall had known for quite a while that I wasn't telling him something; he just didn't know it then that it was something important. So he kept quiet about it because he's a nice guy.

But there was one afternoon (maybe it happened before Homecoming Week, or maybe it was during Homecoming Week, I can't remember) when I was just so happy about that certain something. I was literally over the moon about it but I couldn't tell him about it because I had decided to keep it a secret from him (Why? Well, it's complicated so I won't go into that. Yeah, I know).

The thing that ticked him off a little that afternoon was the fact that someone else knew why I was so happy. But that person was not him. Looking back, I now totally understand his position. I have never really seen him get mad before, and he wasn't yelling at me, but you could definitely tell that he wanted to do it. He was all, "I don't understand why you can't tell ME, of all people. I'm your best friend. How can you not tell your best friend something, I tell you everything..."

I had my reasons for keeping it a secret. Let's just leave it at that.

Anyway, Kendall found out about it at the Homecoming dance. He describes it much better in his post. And the weekend was horrible and it sucked and it hurt a lot and we were sad and I cried and I NEVER WANT TO DO THAT EVER AGAIN. We were mad at each other, but we couldn't be mad at each other, and that made us even more mad at the rest of the world.

The whole issue kind of boiled down to what being best friends really meant to us. Kendall's point was that because this whole secret was important and because it was something that was a big part of my life, he had a right to know about it. I understand that he was hurt that I had told someone else something that I kept from him when our bestfriendship is much closer than any of my friendships with anyone else or any of his friendships with anyone else. And I agree that it is. But at the same time, are we really entitled to tell each other everything? I don't think there's a definite answer. Because I'm sure he has his secrets, but they're secrets that he doesn't tell anyone at all, so they don't count.

Now? He knows about everything about the big secret. And I make sure that I tell him everything. Lesson learned.

Today......
I really loved...sapin-sapin.
I smiled because...of Kendall's open mind today.
Lyrics playing at this very moment as I type this portion of the blog:
"...Now I know that I know not a thing at all except the fact that I'm yours and that you are mine..."
(Your Song by Parokya ni Edgar)
Hours of sleep last night:
Times it got COLD today: Actually, I stopped counting......um. 7? See the problem is I don't know when it starts and stops being cold. What if there's, like, three minutes between when it's not cold and when it is, but because the time is so short, I count only 1 cold moment instead of 2 cold moments?
Friend of the day: Winney (I can always count on you to make, maybe not the RIGHT decisions, but definitely decisions that make me smile).

P.S. I made an ideas draft--but I think those will have to wait until I finish this week's series posts.

Homecoming 2010: X

Guess what?? (Well as you could have guessed by the title) this past week was HOMECOMING!!! *WOO* So I guess you could consider this post as our first official sequel post since it is the sequel to last year's Homecoming post (http://dft.ba/-homecoming09).
So as you may already know, everyday has a specific theme to dress up for and accompanying activities. So throughout this blog post, I will share with you each day.

Day One: Fashion No-No Day
This is the day where you dress up in all crazy-kine clothes that do not match at all.
So this day's activities included the homecoming kick-off in which there is....well, a kick-off. Then at lunch there was an awesome obstacle course around the Center Courtyard. Our grade lost, but at least our very own Gavin Denzer participated!

Day Two: Pirates, Ninjas, Heroes, and Villians (Oh my!)
The title is pretty self explanatory......
Jen and I were both Ninjas

On this day, there was the annual musical chairs competition in the morning. It started off with about 30 people and then worked it's way down to one. Jen and I both competed; Jen lost at around the top 15 people, and I was about the 8th. Oh, and the winner get's an AMAZING prize: first class seating for lip sync. There were a bunch of activities during lunch that day, and the ones that I can remember are tug-of-war and a water ballon toss (Jen has Spanish tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays so she wasn't there). For some reason, our group of friends were the only ones present for the tug-of-war, so it ended up being Sid, Gavin, Rebecca, Krislyn, and myself competing for the Juniors. We were supposed to have ten people so two seniors came and helped us out. The second that it started, the rope broke, so that was ultimately a fail. Then there was a water ballon toss which Jen wanted to compete in, but she couldn't so Sid and I did. We failed. Oh now I remember, the other activity was eXtreme Twister. This was Twister, except it was a different mat and the were two-people teams, and one person was blindfolded and playing on the mat while the other was telling that person where to go. Our grade lost.
Day Three: Peace Day
This day was essentially "Hippie" day.
We didn't have a picture together that day...
So on that fine Wednesday morning, they were giving out free yogurt and granola. Jen got both, while I only got the granola. Oh, and Jen got honey. She REALLY liked that honey. Also, we helped out Ms. Tamas set up the tie-dye station that was going to be going on all day. Jen and I both tie-dyed white shirts (pictures bellow) and therefore we completed a task for the list!! *WOO* Also during lunch there was a concert which featured the always amazing Vaeas and they were selling burgers and hot dogs. Good day.

Day Four: Halloween^3
So yeah, that may be weird that we were celebrating Halloween four days early, but it was the only place where it could fit!

Jen was some Asian chick, and I was Harry Potter.

In the morning, they were serving juicy blood (like, for realz). And also, we saw some pretty awesome costumes. Including Aang by our favorite senior Alex who actually SHAVED HIS HEAD!!! Also Sean dressed up in a pretty epic panda suit. There were a lot of other good ones, but too many to name. Then at lunch........Well this is the only day where I can't remember what happened. That's probably because I didn't even watch the lunch assembly...Oh and the Roberts made an AMAZING haunted house that was a TON of fun. I don't think that Jen got to go through it though... Lastly, there was Lip-Sync that day!! It was pretty good, I thought that our grade was better than I expected. My favorite part of ours was our J-Beibs performance.

Day Five: All-Out Raider Day
Finally, the day of Homecoming is HERE! This was the day where we went all out red, white, and black.

Sooooooo much happened this day, so I will approach it little by little. First off, in the morning, the Raider Mobile was going around giving out candy. Sadly, Jen and I were in W-Lab working on her sonnet so we got none of this beloved candy. Also, all throughout the day, the Roberts were doing face paintings, as seen in the picture.  Then at lunch there was Minute to Win it, which was just a bunch of fun competitions, and our grade won!!! *WOO* Oh and I forgot to mention that all the dress days and competitions added to each grade's spirt points. Then came Cheerfest at the end of the school day. Our cheer was okay, I'm actually not to sure how well we did. I was sitting next to a bunch of D-Bags who were pushing everyone down and stuff. I didn't really think any of the other grades were spectacular. I liked the 8th graders' moves, and the seniors who were just jumping up and down and stuff in front. Then there was the football game, which we won 42-7!!! *WOO* That was a pretty good time that would take way too much time to describe fully. After was the Ho'olaulea which was basically a performance showcase. Jen and Tiff went, but Shann, Kels, Rachel, Jaime, Ping, and I stayed behind. I later found out that Gavin and the Vaeas performed, I didn't get to see it, but I am sure that they were AMAZING!!! Then was the Burning of the 'I', which, again, is self-explanatory. If you still don't get it, look at the picture above. Then after that, we moseyed on down to the homecoming dance where we had a ton of fun. Well, actually some of us had fun. I guess I did have fun, but something particular happened that kind of ruined the night for me. Jen doesn't know what it is yet, and seeing as it is late, I don't think that she will see this tonight, and I probably will confront her about it tomorrow morning so I guess that I can talk about it here. I am still really mad at Jen for it, but I can't seem to stay mad at her. Like, I really just want to completely ignore her, or yell at her, or do something about it, but I can't be mad her because I just can't. I hate that, I wish that when we were mad at each other, we could just be mad at each other, but no, the world just forces us to de-madifiy our selfs. But I suppose that that is for the best, but still, I am super mad at her.

Anyway, that's about it. This thing took me about an hour to write. Yeah, you're welcome. Tomorrow NaNoWriMo starts, which Jen will post about, so I guess that I am excited. Oh and one other thing, Jen, Tiff, and I are having a Harry Potter quote competition in honor of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 coming out on November 19. Exciting stuff. So yeah, that's about it, I am going to go get some sleep.

(Oh yeah, here are those Tie-Dye pictures)

The top two are Jen's and the bottom one is mine.
Jen actually made three, but I can't seem to find that picture.

FEEL THE BURN!!!

'IOLANI HOMECOMING 2009 - "FEEL THE BURN!!!"

Yups, Homecoming Week just finished and we're all pumped up (more or less) for the 2nd quarter!

Starting off with the Homecoming Kickoff and Fashion No-No Dress Day on Monday and ending with the Homecoming game, Ho'olau'lea and Burning of the 'I' (which, sadly, I was not able to attend =[), the whole week was a BLAST! As usual, of course! The 'Iolani Raider spirit was definitely in the air--especically withing the sophomores! (20-12 babyyy.....)

DRESS DAYS:
Monday - Fashion No-No (self-explanatory)
Tuesday - Athletic (jerseys, athletic uniforms and equipment)
Wednesday - Sun Safety (funky hats, shades, and long sleeves)
Thursday - Halloween Eve Eve (costume or 100% black and/or orange)
Friday - All-Out Raider (red, black, and white)

ACTIVITES/LUNCH ASSEMBLIES:
Homecoming Kick-Off, Silent Library, Intramurals, Faculty vs Students Inner Tube Water Polo, Free S'mores, Lip Sync, Barbecue Fundraiser, Lip Sync, Friday Fair Day, Cheerfest, Homecoming game, Ho'olau'lea, Burning of the 'I', etc.

Lip sync was hilarious (all the single ladies...), Cheerfest was loud (O_o), the Homecoming Court was great (Rachel and Darwin, you're my heroes!), yay for the game (final score 39-7?...#74, #74, #74!!!) and ALMOST everyone dressed up all-out for most of the week! *everyone pointedly stares at Chewy* Haha...

Anyway, now that both class day and Homecoming week are over, what else do we have to look forward to until next year? Extended schedule days! Veteran's Day! Random Assembly 3 schedule days! Thanksgiving! Christmas break!

Ahh, all y'all in public schools damn lucky y'all got furlough Fridays! XD
